Jewelry Television (JTV) turns twenty-five this October and we’re invited to the celebration! This event is twenty-five years in the making, so it’s only fitting that it extend beyond a single day and beyond the corporate walls into the community. As a special tribute beginning on October 1st, they are airing one of 25 Wow Moments each day that is like a gift in return to their customers for helping them grow into one of the largest retailers of jewelry and gemstones in the United States.
In 1993, JTV began as a small company known as America’s Collectibles Network® (ACN) and broadcast its first show from Greeneville, Tennessee. Originally offering everything from baseball cards and knives, to electronics and even quilts, ACN eventually focused on its true passion and rebranded itself as Jewelry Television® (JTV). Today, broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from its 3 state-of-the-art high definition studios, the company reaches 86 million American homes. A significant portion of these Wow Moments will come from local residents of Knoxville and surrounding areas. One of the coordinators, Sharon Merritt, appealed to followers on social media outlets to share personal WOW jewelry moments—like the provenance of an special heirloom or a unique story about a treasured piece—and they have many more plans in the works, including makeovers. She told us, “The 25 Wow Moments are a HUGE undertaking…and a big balancing act to put it all together. We could not have done it if it weren’t for Ethan Brewer, owner of Hairpeace in Bearden, who offered up his salon on Mondays to shoot [the makeovers].”
WOW Moment Makeover
We were able to get a sneak peek at one such amazing transformation of two women who were selected from nominations. With makeup services provided by Claire Balest, hair by Ethan Brewer, and JTV host (and regular contributor to KSM) Kristie Carson working her magic, Melinda Bilbrey and Dawn Bath received royal treatment. Both women are survivors of serious health issues, and loved their day of pampering and new looks. JTV wants to create more moments like this to lift up women and help them feel better about themselves. Sharon added, “We love our friends and customers…and we love to meet them face-to-face. We love to celebrate women with amazing stories to tell.”
Check your local listings and tune into JTV anytime, but especially the first
twenty-five days in October to share in more Wow Moments!
